The Shipping Association of Jamaica along with its member companies, Lasocean Agencies Limited and Adolph Levy & Brothers Limited, hosted Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner of Customs Velma Ricketts Walker on July 26. The occasion was a Lunch and Learn Seminar titled, ‘Positive Advancements at Jamaica Customs’.
More than 80 persons representing businesses across the supply chain turned out to hear the commissioner present on the agency’s plans for enhancing their customers’ experience. She outlined an eight-point action plan to achieve this goal, including aspects such as enforcing compliance, reviewing business processes, trade facilitation and stakeholder engagement.
In the forum, the commissioner fielded questions from attendees and was ably supported by members of her team, namely, chief information officer Andre Williams; Senior Director of Operations Selina Clarke-Graham; Senior Legal Director Hazel Edwards; Senior Director of Trade Facilitation and Special Projects Kirk Benjamin; and Director of Public Relations and Customer Services La Donna Manning.
